Screencasting is a great way to communicate knowledge through video and accompanying audio. I used the Jing program to capture my audio of my voice and a video of my desktop. I created my screencast on subscripting text on a typed chemical equation. Take a look, you'll be glad you did. The video file Jing produces is a .swf file which can be stored on your PC or the Screencast service online. Try it out, you'll love it!
This exercise meets ISTE NETS T 2 by creating an activity that meets the needs of students with multiple learning styles, i.e. visually viewing the video lesson, audibly listening to the video, and kinestetically performing the activity on the student PCs by the students. It also meets standard 3 by using a digital tool often not used in the classroom to effectively communicate to my students in a different and interesting way.
